Oil Painting March - Wednesday, Open Paint

Open Paint
This class welcomes both experienced artists and curious beginners (ages 14+) to explore the rich and rewarding world of oil painting.
What to Expect:
Personalized Instruction: Learn at your own pace with guidance from Jamie.
All Supplies Included: Everything you need for your painting journey is provided (canvas, paints, brushes, etc.).
Focus on Fundamentals: New students will begin with a foundational color mixing exercise to understand how colors interact.
Work on Your Own Projects: Explore your own creative vision! Bring your own reference photos or choose from our collection.
Tips for Success:
Plan for Multiple Sessions: Most oil paintings require several sessions to complete.
Image Preparation: In advance, email your reference images to jamie@picketfenceartstudio.com. iPads and laptops are ideal for viewing.
Dress Comfortably: Wear old clothes as oil paints can be a bit messy!

Do you love making art with different materials and techniques?
Do you want to learn how to create your own stamps and prints?
Then join us for this fun and creative art class, where you will explore the world of block printing and printmaking!
Block printing is a process where you carve or draw a design on a rubber stamp block and then use ink to transfer it onto paper or fabric.
We will also be printing our own tshirst this month! Please bring one white or light colored tshirt to the first class.

Teen Art March - Print Making

Join us for this fun and creative art class, where you will explore different forms of printmaking. We will start with Gelli printing for a mixed-media project and end the month printing one-of-a-kind T-shirts.

Ceramics 2.0 Intermediate Wheel Throwing Class - Fridays, March

Watercolor Painting - March 8th, with Pam Carraway

Join us for a captivating watercolor workshop where you'll learn to paint the vibrant beauty of hummingbirds.
In this hands-on experience, you'll discover the magic of watercolor: Explore the techniques of layering, glazing, and creating luminous washes.
Capturing the essence of a hummingbird: Learn to paint delicate feathers, vibrant colors, and the dynamic movement of these fascinating creatures.
All materials will be provided, so come prepared to relax, learn, and create a beautiful hummingbird painting.
No prior experience necessary. This workshop is suitable for all levels, from beginners to those with some watercolor experience.
All supplies included and all levels welcome. Feel free to bring your own supplies if you prefer.
About Pam
Pam Carraway is a watercolor painter and teacher from Edmonds, WA. She loves playing with colors and learning the ins and outs of what can be done with watercolor. Fur, feathers, and faces are her favorite subjects. Pam has been selected for the Edmonds Arts Festival Gallery 2021 - 2023 and was a selected artist in the Edmonds Artwalk February 2023. She also teaches at Cole Art Studio, Red Sky Gallery, and Mystic Art Supply. Pam's artwork can be found at Mystic Art Supply or the Edmonds Summer Market. In this class, you'll:
Learn the Basics: Understand how to mix paint with different amounts of water to create a range of values from light to dark.
Master Value Creation: Explore the "tea, coffee, milk, cream, and butter" method to achieve consistent and varied washes.
Practical Exercises: Practice these techniques through a series of exercises designed to build your confidence and control.
The class will culminate in a final project where you'll apply what you've learned to paint a subject using just one color. You'll focus on creating a captivating piece with depth and dimension, showcasing your mastery of values.
