This class welcomes both experienced artists and curious beginners (ages 14+) to explore the rich and rewarding world of oil painting.

What to Expect:

Personalized Instruction: Learn at your own pace with guidance from Jamie.

All Supplies Included: Everything you need for your painting journey is provided (canvas, paints, brushes, etc.).

Focus on Fundamentals: New students will begin with a foundational color mixing exercise to understand how colors interact.

Work on Your Own Projects: Explore your own creative vision! Bring your own reference photos or choose from our collection.

Tips for Success:

Plan for Multiple Sessions: Most oil paintings require several sessions to complete.

Come play with clay. 

Take a spin on the wheel and engage in hand-built ceramic projects.  

Topics covered include throwing on the wheel, trimming, and glazing techniques. Students will learn to create functional and decorative pieces using the pottery wheel. The class is designed for beginner students. All supplies provided.

April is Spring Break. If your student will miss a class, please use the code Spring Break Teen when registering for one class credit.  Please also let us know the dates your student will miss.  

Watercolor and sumi ink are a great way to explore the world of painting.

Students will learn the basics of watercolor painting.

They will learn how to mix colors, create washes, and use different techniques to create texture and depth in their paintings.

 Students will also learn about sumi ink painting. They will learn how to use sumi ink to create bold, expressive lines and shapes full of energy and movement.

Finally, students will combine their watercolor and sumi ink painting knowledge to create unique paintings that showcase their creativity and skill.

Ages 13+  This is a mixed Teen and Adult Class.

Join us for an enchanting watercolor class where we'll dive into the world of floral painting using a variety of brush strokes. Whether you're a novice or an experienced artist, this class will enhance your skills and help you create beautiful, lifelike flowers with ease and confidence.

In this class, you'll:

Learn Brush Techniques: Explore a range of brush strokes, from delicate petals to bold leaves, and understand how each stroke contributes to the overall composition.

Experiment with Brushes: Get hands-on experience with different types of brushes, discovering how each can be used to achieve unique effects in your floral paintings.

Color and Composition: Understand the importance of color choice and composition in floral art, and learn how to use these elements to create stunning pieces.The class will culminate in a final project where you'll apply your new brush techniques to paint a vibrant flowers.

You'll capture the essence and beauty of flowers, using varied strokes to bring your painting to life.Perfect for all skill levels, this class offers a supportive and engaging environment to explore and develop your watercolor abilities.

All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary.

Bring your love for nature and creativity, and leave with a beautiful floral painting and new techniques to enhance your watercolor practice.

Monday, April 7th, 6:15 - 9:00 pm

Unleash your creativity at our monthly Open Figure & Portrait Drawing & Painting Sessions!

Join us the first Monday of every month from 6:15 PM to 9:00 PM for an evening of artistic exploration.

A live model will be provided by the studio. This will be one long pose with breaks. This is a non-instructed, relaxed session where you can work at your own pace.

All mediums welcome! Bring your own supplies. Easels and side tables provided.

Cost: $30 per session

Capture the Charm of Bunnies in Watercolor

Join us for a delightful watercolor workshop where you'll learn to paint the endearing charm of bunnies.

In this hands-on experience, you'll discover:

The magic of watercolor: Explore the techniques of layering, glazing, and creating luminous washes.

Capturing the essence of a bunny: Learn to paint fluffy fur, long ears, and those adorable whiskers.

Creating depth and dimension: Master techniques for suggesting form and creating a sense of space on your paper.

All supplies are included, so come prepared to relax, learn, and create a beautiful bunny painting.

Feel free to bring your own supplies if you prefer.

About the Instructor:

Pam Carraway is a watercolor painter and teacher from Edmonds, WA.  She loves playing with colors and learning the ins and outs of what can be done with watercolor. Fur, feathers, and faces are her favorite subjects. Pam has been selected for the Edmonds Arts Festival Gallery 2021 - 2023 and was a selected artist in the Edmonds Artwalk February 2023.  Pam's artwork can be found at Mystic Art Supply or the Edmonds Summer Market.
