The Art Critique Group is a friendly and supportive space where you can bring in one piece of art for group review and critique. You can choose any medium, genre, or theme for your art. You can present your art, explain your creative process, and receive constructive comments from other artists. You will also be able to learn from the works of others and discover new ideas and inspirations.

The Art Critique Group will meet once a month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at PFA Studio. The event is free, but registration is required. Bring beverages and snacks to share.

Join us for a live oil painting demonstration of a raven.

Jamie will show you how to create a realistic and expressive portrait of a raven using oil paints, brushes, and palette knives.

You will learn how to capture the texture and shine of the raven's feathers, the depth and contrast of its eyes, and the subtle variations of its black color.

You will also get tips and tricks on how to paint backgrounds, light effects, and details that enhance the mood and atmosphere of your painting.

The demonstration will last for two hours, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with Jamie throughout the session.

Encaustic Art: A Hot and Cool Adult Art Class

Encaustic Art is a hot and cool adult art class that introduces you to the ancient technique of painting with melted beeswax.

You will learn how to prepare your own encaustic medium, how to apply and fuse layers of wax on a wooden panel, how to add pigments and other materials to create effects.

The class is open to all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced. You don't need any prior knowledge or skills to join.

Ages 18+ All supplies provided.

Let's Get Back to the Basics- 

In this course, you will learn about the basics of oil painting. Topics covered will include:

• An introduction to the tools.
• Toning your canvas.
• Your color palette.
• Basic color theory and color mixing.
• Using value to create dimension.
• How to use color temperature to create shifts.
• A brief introduction to composition.

You will learn from demonstrations, exercises, and projects that will help you develop your skills and confidence in this medium. The focus of the course is not to finish a painting but to learn some fundamentals that will help you achieve that goal.

This course is suitable for beginners and intermediate painters who want to improve their oil painting techniques. All supplies provided. Ages 18+.

Join us for a fun and relaxing evening of painting and sipping! In this class, you will learn how to create your own beautiful acrylic painting. 

You will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating your own masterpiece. You will learn how to mix colors, apply paint to the canvas, and create texture and depth in your painting.

This class is perfect for anyone who wants to explore their creative side in a fun and supportive environment. No prior experience is necessary. All materials are provided, including paint, brushes, canvas, and aprons.

Wednesdays, November 8 - 29, for four weeks,  from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Paint with Amanda Schuster in a step-by-step process to learn the joy of this magical medium.

No drawing experience is necessary.

Students will learn the basics of watercolor painting in this class.

They will be introduced to watercolor terms, supplies, techniques, and artists. Students will learn vocabulary, discuss the different types of brushes, papers, and paints, all while creating their own paintings.

Come play, have fun with color, and learn to create a successful painting.

Ages 18 and over.  Students must provide their own supplies.
