This class is oil painting and drawing lessons for students 13 and over, mixed adults and teens. 

Come learn the basics of oil painting!  Students work at their own level and pace. All supplies are provided.

Before your first class, please email me and let me know if you will be using one of my images or send a couple of the images you are thinking of, and we will select a good reference image. An Ipad or laptop are the best options. Printed photos work as well. Please also let me know your interest and level of skill.

Wednesday, 1:00 - 3:30 pm, May 3rd, for Five Weeks.

All supplies included.

Explore, learn, and create your paintings of Funky Flowers.

Lela will share examples of her own works and other contemporary artists to inspire you in this five-week course.

Students will use acrylic paint and learn various methods of application and exploration, creating a painting of their favorite flowers on canvas.

Included in this course:

Lessons in drawing to place the flowers on the canvas in an ideal composition,

Use of various acrylic compounds,

Lessons on color and value.

This course will offer the freedom to express your artistic vision and give you the confidence to pursue your own art practice.

About Lela - Lela has studied art for over 20 years. An alumnus of the Trowbridge modern color and many other varying classes at Gage and Kirkland Arts, Lela is not beholden to any specific genre but instead has an eclectic perspective from abstract to realism and looks to find the beauty in each discipline.

"Though not native to the PNW, I’ve found my home here for almost forty years. Having lived in many regions of the United States, I feel landscapes dominate my thoughts and dreams. I love being out in nature and love how unique this region is."

Fridays, 9:00 am to 11:30 am, beginning June 2, for Five Weeks,

Join Lela as we experiment and play with various mediums to spark your creativity and interest in art.

Explore drawing and mark-making with charcoal and pastels.

Experiment with applying paint with various tools, including brushes, palette knives, and brayers.

Learn about color, and its manipulation to achieve your artistic vision.

Mondays, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm,  June 5th, for Four Weeks, $270 per student. Adults only. A supply fee of $50 is included.

The supply fee covers a cold wax squeegee, brayer, and unique paper that the student will take home at the workshop's end.  All other supplies included.

Explore the magical medium of cold wax. Join Lela and learn the basics of working with Cold Wax Medium.  

This course will include the following:

Learning to handle the medium.

Layering and learning about opacity and transparency.

Thinking through color.

Experimentation with various techniques of application.
