Book Binding: Create Your Own Sketchbook
with Dana Harris Seeger

Saturday, May 17th
10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Tuition includes a $20 supply fee
Make your own sketchbook and learn how to bind like “real” bookbinders. This class will show you the Case Binding technique that involves sewing multiple signatures (groups of pages) together to create a traditional book. Students will be able to choose their covers by hand gluing paper or book cloth to board. This is a very versatile technique that is the foundation for traditional book binding, and can be used for large or small books. Each student will walk away with a completed blank sketchbook.
Throughout the day, students will learn the history of Book Binding, watch demonstrations in the techniques, create their covers and sew their pages together. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch or snack and we’ll take a 30 min break to eat. A show and tell at the end is always fun! This is a quick moving and in depth comprehensive workshop and we will undoubtedly use every minute of our time together!
